About the Northeast Austin Apartments

Austin’s Northeast sector is made up of four distinct neighbourhoods:

East Austin
Pflugerville
North Oaks
French Place

When looking for an apartment, it is important to consider what the various neighbourhoods within Northeast Austin have to offer.

East Austin is a convenient and affordable area located just nine miles from the Austin Airport and near both the University of Texas and downtown. Walk or bike to the corner grocery store or take a short drive to the many stores at Riverside Drive and Pleasant Valley Road. Parks and recreation centers are plentiful. Walk to Festival Beach and Fiesta Gardens on the north shore of Town Lake or visit the Krieg Field Softball Complex, the Metz Recreation Center or the Pan American Recreation Center, with its impressive amenities including a multipurpose sports field, outdoor tennis, basketball courts, a playground, wading pool and hillside stage.

The area has many pre-World War II homes available for rent. Many homes have two bedrooms and one bathroom, while others have as many as three bedrooms spread over 1,300 square feet. Children of East Austin attend Maplewood, Zavala, Brooke or Sanchez Elementary. They continue to Martin or Keiling Junior High School and then on to Johnston or McCallum High School.

Ten minutes from virtually everything, French Place is located near St. David’s Hospital and the University of Texas. The area, bordered by Wilshire Blvd on the north, Manor Road on the south, Airport Blvd to the east and I-35 to the west, has big trees and friendly people. Students here attend Maplewood Elementary, Kealing Junior High and LBJ High.

In nearby Pflugerville, residents say they love living in a community that is near big city conveniences yet maintains small town charm. More than 25,000 people live in the City of Pflugerville, another 150,000 within the regional boundaries, yet charming continues to be the word people use to describe this delightful community. The city has several hospitals, two libraries, and many recreation facilities including parks, golf courses and hiking and biking trails. Area schools include fourteen elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools.

As its name suggests, North Oaks is a charming area with huge oak trees that line the streets and provide much needed summer shade. It is an affordable neighbourhood, appealing to high-tech workers who prefer to live close to employers such as Dell and Samsung. Children attend Graham Elementary, Dobie Middle School and Reagan High.
