North Austin Apartments: The Neighborhoods

In Milwood, people will find quiet neighbourhoods, good schools and parks with pools, including the Balcones District Park to the east and a neighbourhood park and pool to the west on Tamayo Drive. Students in the Austin section of Milwood attend Summitt Elementary School, Burnet Middle School and Lanier High School. Others attend schools in the Round Rock school district including Jollyville or Pond Springs Elementary, Deerpark Middle School and McNeil High.

Bordered by Interstate 35 on the west, Yager Lane on the north, Dessau Road on the east and Walnut Creek to the south, Copperfield is ideally located near good schools, major roadways and the city’s north industrial sites. The neighbourhood has many new and affordable apartments to choose from and is located near Pflugerville, where amenities such as major grocery stores, dry cleaners and restaurants can be found. Both Round Rock Hospital and the Austin Regional Medical Center are located conveniently nearby. Movie theatres and Highland Mall are also within easy reach. Children attend Copperfield Elementary, Dessau Middle School and either Connally or Pflugerville High.

Wells Branch is a community oriented neighbourhood with good schools, easy access to roads and more than 3,000 apartments, located along the south side of the Wells Branch Parkway. Here you’ll find parks, playgrounds, a community center and two pools, one of which is heated. A greenbelt also winds through the neighbourhood along a creek. Many area residents work for local companies nearby including Dell, IBM and Abbott Laboratories. Children attend the two area elementary schools (Northwest and Wells Branch). A third school is being built.

Vista Oaks is another popular neighbourhood, located a safe distance from Austin, but close enough to take advantage of Round Rock amenities including the recreation center’s junior-sized Olympic pool, tennis courts, playgrounds and a sand volleyball court. Students attend Spicewood Elementary, Canyon Vista Middle School and Westwood High.

Bounded by County Road 122 on the west, I-35 on the east, Hwy 79 to the north and Gattis School road to the south, Round Rock’s Forest Creek is adjacent to the Forest Creek Golf Course, which is owned and maintained by the City of Round Rock. There is no shopping in Forest Creek, however there is a neighbourhood swimming pool and a playground for kids, many of whom attend Forest Creek Elementary School.
