Tools, patio furniture and barbeques
Clothing
Books and collectibles (comics, toys, sports cards)
Identification and qualifications that must be replaced, including birth certificates, transcripts, certificates of citizenship

Once you have completed your inventory, review the insurance coverage you have, to ensure that it is for a high enough value. Now would be a good time to verify whether or not you have adequate insurance.

Should the unthinkable happen, and you are forced to make an insurance claim, it will go far smoother with proper coverage, a documented list, pictures and or video proof. In addition, and perhaps most importantly, it will save you from a lot of additional stress during a difficult time.
